INDIANAPOLIS – Alderson Broaddus freshman Rhea John was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week as league play got underway.
 
John and the Battlers were able to secure a win in the G-MAC standings against Kentucky Wesleyan, 6-3.
 
AB picked up its first win in dual competition this year as John, a rookie import from Kochi, India, evened her overall record at 3-3.
 
Manning the No. 1 singles position and working out of the No. 2 doubles slot, John delivered points to AB’s total in both matchups.
 
She won in a single pro-set format against KWC’s Elizabeth Clayton, 8-1, and combined with AB teammate Jordyn Walker to beat the Panthers’ No. 2 tandem, 8-3.
