INDIANAPOLIS – Ohio Valley senior Jake Carr and Cedarville junior Josh Kneeland were named Great Midwest Athletic Conference Baseball Players of the week on Monday.

Carr earned G-MAC Player of the Week and Kneeland was named G-MAC Pitcher of the Week. Both of the conference weekly awards were the first for both student-athletes, respectively.

Carr, a slugging lefty in the middle of the OVU lineup, was 9-for-13 (.692) with a home run, two doubles and eight RBI. He also scored five times as the Fighting Scots enjoyed a perfect 3-0 stretch in the past seven days.

Carr ranks among the league’s best hitters and is now batting .446 on the season with 29 hits in his first 65 at-bats. He also has doubled five times to go with 17 RBI.

Ohio Valley beat West Virginia Wesleyan and then swept Salem International in mid-week action.

Kneeland was in shutdown mode on the mound last Saturday with his team at Oakland City.

In seven innings of work for the junior from Newfane, N.Y., Kneeland surrendered only five hits, no earned runs and fanned seven in a winning effort by the Yellow Jackets 10-3.

Kneeland earned the winning decision in his fourth start and is now 2-2 on the season with a team-best 2.16 ERA and 21 strikeouts.
