PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Championship was down to four remaining seeds following a pair of opening-round matchups on Thursday.
No. 5 Davis & Elkins and No. 3 Cedarville both advanced to the semifinal round to be conducted in Ursuline’s Sister Diana Stano Athletic Center.
Awaiting the Senators and Yellow Jackets in the bracket are two teams that earned first-round byes with their season performances, No. 2 Malone and No. 1 Ursuline.
Ursuline will match up against Davis & Elkins in the early contest at 5 p.m. EST before Malone and Cedarville will go head-to-head at 7:30 p.m. The winning teams from each contest will emerge as championship contenders in Saturday’s final.

As one of the G-MAC greats, senior guard Stephanie Wooten of Davis & Elkins doesn’t want her team’s postseason run to end anytime soon. The lefty exploded for a G-MAC tournament record high of 37 points as the Senators moved on in the bracket.
Even more impressive than the point total may be the nine assists she had hand in to keep her teammates involved. Wooten shot 14-of-26 from the field and made four three-point shots.
Wooten was joined in double figures by Aliyah Dukes and Kali Wilburn, each with 12 points.
Kentucky Wesleyan’s Jennifer Walker-Crawford finished with a team-high 22 points while Addie Reimbold added 11. The Panthers concluded their season with a 19-8 overall record.

The Yellow Jackets received a stiff opening-round test from the sixth-seeded Battlers. Just a one-point game at the half, Cedarville pushed through to eventually take control down the stretch and move into the semifinal round.
Cedarville’s all-conference guard tandem consisting of Baylee Bennett and Regina Hochstetler combined for 31 points while Breanne Watterworth came through with a double-double that included 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The Yellow Jackets enjoyed a strong third quarter that saw them outscore their opponent 14-7.
AB all-conference guard Jordan Parker led the Battlers with 19 points, including three three-point baskets and six made free throws. AB finished its season at 11-18 overall.
