INDIANAPOLIS – Davis & Elkins sophomore Laura Fermosel was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week for the third time this season on Monday.
 
Fermosel has now collected G-MAC Athlete of the Week honors back-to-back times in the spring while additionally earning the honors once in the shortened fall season.
 
The Senators were in action once during the past week against the University of Virginia at Wise.
 
Fermosel put together a perfect scoresheet with a clean shutout sweep in singles at the No. 1 position against Daria Tyschenko, 6-0, 6-0.
 
She and Elise Simon also swept their doubles matchup in the No. 1 slot as well, beating UVA-Wise’s top combo, 8-0.
 
Fermosel now stands at an undefeated 4-0 in singles action while posting a 3-1 record in doubles competition so far this season.
