G-MAC Baseball Players of the Week (Feb. 27)

2.28.17

INDIANAPOLIS – Cedarville junior infielder Markus Neff and Kentucky Wesleyan sophomore hurler Ryan Hundley have been named Great Midwest Athletic Conference Baseball Players of the Week.

Neff earned G-MAC Player of the Week honors for positional players while Hundley was tagged as the G-MAC Pitcher of the Week.

These awards are the first in the careers of both respective student-athletes.

Neff had a monster weekend against future league member Findlay in a pair of Yellow Jacket contests to open the spring. He did most of his damage in one game with a gaudy 4-for-4 line at the plate that included two home runs, two doubles and five RBI.

After going 2-for-4 in his Cedarville debut in game one of the twinbill, Neff drove in the first run of game two with an RBI double.

He doubled against to lead off the fourth inning and homered to deep left in the fifth frame, a two-run shot.

Neff greeted an Oiler reliever rudely with another two-run blast in the seventh inning to give Cedarville a 7-6 win before Findlay roared back in extras to complete the DH sweep.

Hundley silenced the bats of Tiffin for seven scoreless innings for the complete-game shutout as KWC collected another regional win.

A first-team and all-freshman team conference selection last spring, Hundley has seemingly made the transition from shutdown reliever to potential ace early in his young career.

Hundley struck out eight Dragon batters and gave up just five hits while walking none. He represents KWC’s second G-MAC Pitcher of the Week after righty Nate Verst got the first nod of the spring season.

Hundley is now 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA in 16 innings pitched. He has struck out 14 batters while issuing just three free passes.
