INDIANAPOLIS – Ohio Valley freshman Drew Braden and Seton Hill sophomore Brett Craig were both named Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week on Monday.
Braden was named the G-MAC Offensive Player of the Week while Craig netted G-MAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Braden and the Fighting Scots (1-0, 0-0 G-MAC) picked up their first win as a member of the G-MAC in their season debut against District of Columbia.
Braden finished with six points (five goals, one assist) to serve as the one of offensive sparkplugs in his collegiate debut. Braden produced the same offensive output as teammate Keith Parkman in a high-scoring affair.
A freshman from Wooster, Ohio, Braden found the net three times in the first half for an 11-9 lead for OVU at the break. Deadlocked at 16-16 with about five minutes left in regulation, Braden scored twice with the Fighting Scots up a man to put the game on ice.
Craig and the sixth-ranked Griffins (1-1, 0-0 G-MAC) from Seton Hill collected their first win of the spring against Mercy.
The 6-5 Canadian long-stick midfielder Craig had his fingerprints all over SHU’s victory with nine groundballs, an assist and a caused turnover. He assisted a Jack Miller score that pulled both teams even at 4-4 with 2:28 left in the first half.
Seton Hill debuted the spring against defending NCAA runner-up and No. 2-ranked Limestone last week. The Griffins rose from ninth to sixth in a pair of men’s lacrosse national polls.
