INDIANAPOLIS – The final divisional selections were made for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Players of the Week as the league tournament concluded in Hillsdale over the weekend.
The tournament host and top seed from the West Division, Hillsdale, roared through the Great Midwest Championship bracket with three wins to emerge as champions.
Hillsdale took down Davis & Elkins in the quarterfinals, Walsh in the semifinals and Findlay in Saturday’s championship match in the Dawn Tibbetts Potter Arena.
The Chargers enter the national tournament with an AQ on a 21-match win streak and now anxiously await the NCAA Selection Show on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Hillsdale was ranked third in the Midwest Region rankings while Findlay was ranked sixth last week; the Oilers’ postseason hopes are contingent on an at-large selection from the national committee.
All four institutions that advanced into the semifinals (Hillsdale, Findlay, Lake Erie, Walsh) were also competing in the first year with the Great Midwest.
