Volleyball Players of the Week (Oct. 30)

INDIANAPOLIS – Division leaders Lake Erie and Findlay both earned Great Midwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Players of the Week honors as announced on Monday afternoon.
 
Half of the field for the Great Midwest Championship has been set with Findlay and Hillsdale from the West Division and Lake Erie and Walsh from the East Division each securing their postseason bids.
 
Teams can see the finish line to the regular season with three or four league matches remaining in everyone’s schedule.
 
The conference tournament will be hosted by the school with the highest overall winning percentage starting on November 16.
 
Hillsdale and Findlay both received votes in the most recent AVCA Top-25 Poll. The first NCAA Midwest Region rankings will also be released this week on Wednesday following the national committee call.
 
East Division Player of the Week

Peiffer earned divisional player of the week honors as a repeat selection following the Storm’s perfect 3-0 week. LEC has now won eight straight and sports a 22-7 overall record while qualifying for the conference tournament.
 
Peiffer averaged 4.14 kills per set while hitting .481 in seven sets played. She recorded six kills in just one set against Davis & Elkins.
 
Peiffer came through with 29 kills versus just four errors in 52 total swings. She had 13 kills vs. Alderson Broaddus and 10 against Ohio Valley in straight-set sweeps.
 
She averaged 5.07 points per set and also had 1.86 digs and 0.86 blocks per set. The sophomore also chipped in three service aces.

Olson and the Oilers beat Ohio Dominican and Cedarville on the road in back-to-back days to move that much closer to securing hosting rights for the Great Midwest Championship.
 
Findlay is now 22-4 with a 13-1 record in league play as a West Division member.
 
The junior setter showcased solid all-around number as she averaged 10.71 assists, 3.00 digs and 1.29 service aces per set, in both contests. At 5-11, she also added in five kills and four blocks.
 
She totaled 40 assists, 14 digs, five service aces and three kills, in just four sets against Ohio Dominican before coming through with 35 assists, seven digs, four more service aces and three blocks vs. Cedarville.
 
Olson currently leads the league in assists (1,037) and assists per set (11.03). The single-season conference record for total assists is 1,271 from Kristin Cardwell of Cedarville in 2016. Olson is also on pace to break the all-time assists per set mark of 10.25 in a single season held by Trevecca’s Loren Bennett in the 2015 season.
