Tennis Athletes of the Week (Oct. 3)

INDIANAPOLIS – Findlay earned both selections for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s & Women’s Tennis Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.

The Oilers’ men opened dual competition by sweeping Heidelberg and Shawnee State while the UF women also beat Heidelberg and fell to Oberlin.   
 
Men’s Athlete of the Week

Blanco recorded a perfect 2-0 record in No. 1 singles action and also had a 2-0 mark in No. 1 doubles competition last week.
 
He scored a 6-0, 6-2 win over Tate Schoen of Heidelberg and a 6-1, 6-2, straight-set victory over Shawnee State's Nick Johnson in singles action and teamed with senior Nicholas Kopylec to score a pair of wins in doubles.
 
Women’s Athlete of the Week
Sheridan McLean

Waverly, OH (Waverly HS)
 
McLean posted a 2-0 record in singles competition for the Oilers last week and also went 1-1 in doubles action.  
 
She began the week with a 6-0, 6-1, straight-set win vs. Heidelberg's Aline Rojas in No. 2 singles action and then added a 6-0, 6-4, win over Oberlin's Mayada Auden.

In doubles competition, McLean combined with teammate Mikaela Hindenlang to post an 8-2 victory in their match with Heidelberg.
