Men’s & Women’s Tennis Athletes of the Week (Oct. 10)

INDIANAPOLIS – Cedarville and Hillsdale collected Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s & Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week awards as announced on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Some dual matches and tournament at the Racer Invitational hosted by the University of Northern Ohio were completed throughout the last week competition.
 
 
Men’s Athlete of the Week
Alex Totten
Cedarville
Sophomore
Normal, IL (University HS)
 
Totten and the Yellow Jackets took down Capital University in head-to-head action.

The sophomore was perfect in singles and doubles at the No. 2 position winning 6-0, 6-0, in straight sets and teaming with Ryan Cvammen to win 8-0.
 
He improved his record to 3-1 in doubles and is now 2-2 in singles. This is Totten’s second career weekly conference honor.
 
Cedarville closed out the fall season with a 4-1 record going into the spring.
 
Women’s Athlete of the Week
Katie Bell
Hillsdale
Sophomore
Carlisle, England (Queen Elizabeth Grammar School)

Bell and her teammates had a successful weekend at the Northwestern Ohio Invite, picking up wins in both singles and doubles flights. Bell teamed up with junior Corinne Prost to go 2-1 in doubles play, picking up wins over Walsh (6-0) and Findlay (6-2). 

When it came time for singles action, Bell shined, earning a 6-2, 6-0 win over Findlay and a 6-1, 6-3 win over Walsh to have a personal record of 4-1 during play over the weekend.
