GREENWOOD, Ind. - For the second time in three tries this year, Cedarville senior Olivia Esbenshade has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the fall.
Esbenshade ran the Friendship Invitational for the first time in her career on Sept. 17.
In the past she could not compete because of injuries, but this year she was able to, and did so in very impressive 18:19.10.
She was the first to cross the finish line, and her time earned her the best time in the conference this year and marks the sixth-best effort in conference history since 2012.
The USTFCCCA 14th-ranked Yellow Jackets won the invitational for the 15th time in school history. The team finished with a total time of 1:33.00.
The Yellow Jackets next race will be at the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championship on Sept. 30.
