INDIANAPOLIS – Great Midwest Athletic Conference champion Alderson Broaddus drew the eighth seed in the NCAA Division II Baseball Midwest Regional following an announcement Sunday night.
The Battlers gathered at a Buffalo Wild Wings near campus for the unveiling of the selection show after winning four games in the G-MAC Championship at PRASCO Park in Mason, Ohio, last week.
As the No. 8 seed in the Midwest Region, one of two regions with eight allocations (Central Region), the Battlers qualified for the field of 56 teams in the national tournament with 23 automatic qualifiers and 33 at-large selections.
AB received the G-MAC’s first automatic qualifier into the national tournament following a 9-6 win vs. Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday to conclude the league championship.
Alderson Broaddus (31-19) will get ready to travel to Quincy, Ill., to face the region host and top seed Hawks (37-16) on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. CST (2:30 p.m. EST).
In the double-elimination bracket, the winner would advance to face the winner of No. 4 Southern Indiana/No. 5 Missouri S&T on Friday at 5 p.m. CST. The loser of the AB/Quincy contest would fall to the consolation round for a 10 a.m. CST elimination game on Friday morning.
Regional play around the country will get underway on Thursday, May 19.

GLIAC champion Grand Valley State earned the No. 2 seed and faces No. 7 Hillsdale, an incoming G-MAC institution for 2017-18, in the first round.
GLVC champion Indianapolis was ticketed with the No. 3 seed will play No. 6 Ashland. Southern Indiana earned another at-large selection as the No. 4 seed and matches up with No. 5 Missouri S&T on Thursday.
The winner of the Midwest Regional will advance all the way to Cary, N.C., home of the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship.
