CEDARVILLE, Ohio - On Thursday evening, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference hosted its annual ice cream social event and awards presentation at Cedarville University, the site of the 2016 G-MAC Women’s Tennis Championship.
The G-MAC presented its 2016 Women’s Tennis All-Conference Team and individual award winners prior to the quarterfinal rounds beginning on Friday at the Johnson-Murdoch Complex at Cedarville
Highlighting the presentations from commissioner Tom Daeger were the announcements of G-MAC Coach of the Year, G-MAC Player of the Year and G-MAC Freshman of the Year.
Great Midwest Athletic Conference: Coach of the Year
OTIS CUTSHAW – Davis & Elkins College
Coach Cutshaw led his Senators to a perfect run with a 7-0 conference record and a 13-11 overall record entering the postseason in 2016. The Senators finished the regular-season strong, winning seven of their final nine matches of the season as Davis & Elkins headed into the G-MAC Championship as the top overall seed. D&E's signature win was a 5-4 victory vs. Cedarville on the final weekend on the Yellow Jackets' home courts.
Great Midwest Athletic Conference: Freshman of the Year
ELISE SIMON – Davis & Elkins College - Freshman
Simon was the feature player on the Senators playing at the #1 singles position all season. She is a key piece of the puzzle to the projected success of the program as her promising career unfolds.
