GREENWOOD, Ind. – Davis & Elkins senior outfielder Lance VanNoy and Cedarville senior pitcher Garrett Baker were named as the 13th set of Great Midwest Athletic Conference Baseball Athletes of the Week on Monday.

Baker earned his second consecutive pitching accolade from the league while VanNoy’s bat helped propel the Senators to a four-game sweep in conference play.

VanNoy hit over .700 (10-for-12) and provided plenty of extra-base pop as Davis & Elkins won a four-game set against Salem International over the weekend.

After redshirting in 2015, it’s hard not to wonder what the senior slugger’s career numbers could potentially look like if he had another full season of stats under his belt.

He already ranks 12th in career batting average all-time in the G-MAC and is also in the top 20 in hits.

Against Salem International, he legged out five doubles in four games and had a total of 10 RBI.

VanNoy went a perfect 5-for-5 in game two against SIU on Friday, a monster line with two runs and two doubles and three RBI. He also stole a base.

He ripped three hits each in game one of the doubleheader and then to close the series. VanNoy drove in three runs each for three consecutive games.

On the season, the lefty-swinging VanNoy is hitting a team-best .378 in 38 games played. He leads the Senators in hits (51) and home runs (3).

For the second straight week, Baker had opponents flailing at the plate as he turned in an eight-inning gem, this time against Ohio Valley.

Baker tossed eight scoreless innings and allowed just five hits and a pair of walks.

In his last two starts, Baker has been lights out with 16 combined scoreless innings and 23 strikeouts.

He is now 3-2 on the season with a 3.07 ERA, the fourth-best mark in the conference.
