GREENWOOD, Ind. – Cedarville senior pitcher Garrett Baker and Trevecca Nazarene senior infielder/outfielder Tyler Tichenor were named as the 12th set of Great Midwest Athletic Conference Baseball Athletes of the Week on Monday.
Baker pitched a gem against Salem International in conference play while Tichenor was a tough out while flashing extra-base pop in another strong week for the league-leading Trojans.

As a senior, Tichenor’s impressive career numbers figure to stand the test of time for the near future as he continues to emerge as one of the G-MAC’s best in major statistical categories.
Against Lincoln Memorial and a four-game road set against Ohio Valley, the lefty batted .600 (12-for-20) with seven runs, four RBI, three doubles and belted a home run.
In addition, he was a perfect 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts.
In non-conference action against the Railsplitters from LMU, Tichenor doubled as part of a 2-for-4 day at the plate.
During the final two games of the series against Ohio Valley, Tichenor was a combined 7-for-8, including a 4-for-4 game to wrap up the doubleheader.
Tichenor is now batting an even .400 on the year. He is the current league leader in hits (58) and stolen bases (24).
In 197 games played, the most of any player in G-MAC history, Tichenor is first in batting average (.399), at-bats (804), runs (201), hits (321) and stolen bases (102). He ranks second in RBI with 159.

In his lone start of the week, Baker was untouchable for eight strong innings against Salem International. He stymied the Tigers with eight shutout innings and 14 strikeouts while giving up just one hit.
The Yellow Jackets’ offense did their part with 11 runs while Baker went about his business and recorded the G-MAC’s best single-game strikeout total of the season.
He combined with Jordan Baker on a one-hit shutout in the nine-inning affair.
Baker faced just four batters over the minimum and gave up just a leadoff single in the seventh inning.
He struck out the side in the fifth frame and retired 10 straight to begin the game before issuing a walk.
In seven games this year, Baker has logged a 3.82 ERA and a 2-2 win-loss record while striking out 41 in just 33 innings pitched.
