GREENWOOD, Ind. – Alderson Broaddus senior midfielder Aurora Winwood was named the seventh Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Athlete of the Week for the 2016 season on Monday.

AB, winners of its first league contest and still over .500 overall, has had four different G-MAC Athletes of the Week in the sport’s first season of conference play.

Jasmine Barham, Mykirah Jones and Meredith Wilson, have all represented the Battlers at some point this spring on the conference weekly honor list.

The Battlers continued to maintain their winning record as they had another weekly split, this time vs. conference opponent Davis & Elkins and Georgetown College. A G-MAC win vs. the Senators and a loss against Georgetown puts AB at 7-6 overall.

Winwood led the Battlers with a career-high five goals against Davis & Elkins. She tallied four of those five scores in the second half and contributed an assist and added six draw controls.

The Battlers came back later that week to compete against Georgetown, but fell on the short end of a 14-8 final score. Winwood’s contributions in the effort included a goal, two draw controls, four ground balls and three caused turnovers.

This spring, she has played in all 13 games and has started in 12 of the 13 for the Battlers.
