GREENWOOD, Ind. – Kentucky Wesleyan senior first baseman Troy Paris and Trevecca Nazarene junior pitcher Bryan Smith were named the 11th set of Great Midwest Athletic Conference Baseball Athletes of the Week on Monday.
Kentucky Wesleyan and Trevecca Nazarene both emerged from a weather-wrecked weekend in a tie for first in the G-MAC standings at 11-1 overall.
KWC handled business in Owensboro with a four-game series sweep against Davis & Elkins and TNU won three of four against Salem International.

For the second time this spring, Paris earned weekly conference honors as the senior slugger again put up strong numbers for the co-conference leading Panthers.
Paris was 8-for-17 in the four-game stretch, mashing his fifth home run of the season along the way.
He saved his best for last against the Senators on Sunday, going a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate with the home run, four runs scored five RBI, two doubles, a walk and three stolen bases.
His monster performance gave him a .471 average on the weekend and increased his slugging percentage to .765.
Paris ranks in the top 10 in the G-MAC in hitting (.357). He’s the current league leader in RBI (48), second in doubles (13) , total bases (72) and home runs (5).

Smith, the G-MAC’s all-time leader in career wins (20), had his full arsenal on display with a dominant outing against Salem International in a Trojans’ 10-0 win.
Smith locked down the Tigers in a nine-inning complete game shutout. He punched out 11 hitters, the league’s second-highest total this spring only behind 12 by Alderson Broaddus’ Randy Dobnak against Charleston.
He scattered just five hits and one walk and faced just five batters over the minimum.
It marked his fourth win of the season and brought his season ERA to 4.96 in eight games. Smith has pitched a total of 45.1 innings and has racked up 42 strikeouts.
