GREENWOOD, Ind. – Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament champion Ursuline is ticketed for a trip to nearby Ashland in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship Midwest Regional.

The Arrows officially clinched their first trip to the NCAA tourney on Saturday with a win in the conference championship final vs. Cedarville.

Ursuline is the G-MAC’s first automatic qualifier in the NCAA Championship and second overall NCAA qualifier in the sport after Cedarville made the bracket last year as an at-large bid.

Ursuline and Ashland will play on Friday, March 11, at a time yet to be determined by the regional host.

A total of 64 teams comprised the bracket with 24 automatic qualifiers and 40 at-large selections following the NCAA’s Selection Show on Sunday night.

Ursuline will continue its postseason run with a 25-3 record, including a current 12-game win streak.

The Arrows were co-regular season champions of the G-MAC for the 2015-16 season.

Ursuline’s G-MAC Coach of the Year Shannon Sword was an assistant coach at Ashland prior to taking her position in Pepper Pike, Ohio.

The Eagles are 30-1 overall and have been ranked as the top team in the country this season while going undefeated at home at 17-0.

Ashland is coming off the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship title after beating Grand Valley State in the final.
