G-MAC Baseball Athletes of the Week (March 21)

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Alderson Broaddus sophomore outfielder Chuck “Charlie” Hooker and senior pitcher Chris Boatto were named as the eighth set of Great Midwest Athletic Conference Baseball Athletes of the Week on Monday.

The Battlers were one of three G-MAC schools competing in the Midwest Regional Crossover Showcase in Westfield, Ind.

Alderson Broaddus beat No. 15 Indianapolis while also playing Drury and Walsh at Grand Park.

Boatto earned the Battlers lone win at the Inagural Midwest Region Baseball Crossover Showcase. 

Boatto went eight innings allowing two earned runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out three in the Battlers 7-4 victory over No. 15 Indianapolis.

Boatto got through the first seven innings without allowing a run before allowing a pair in the eighth.

He improved to 3-1 on the season.

Hooker played in four games and led the Battlers bats at the Midwest Region Baseball Crossover Showcase.

Hooker finished the four game weekend 8-for-15 (.533), with a double, four RBI and two runs scored. 

Hooker did much of his damage on day one against No. 15 Indianapolis and Drury going 6-for-8 with three RBI and both of his runs scored.

Against the Greyhounds he went 3-for-4 driving in three runs in the Battlers 7-4 victory.

Against Drury he also tallied three hits and a run scored. He also knocked a pair of hits on Sunday against Walsh including an RBI double.

He posted a .533 on base percentage and a .600 slugging percentage.
