INDIANAPOLIS – Davis & Elkins sophomore Laura Fermosel was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Month for October.
 
Fermosel is part of a talented Senators program that earned an automatic qualifier in the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional last season.
 
In October, D&E played just won match, but Fermosel was an integral part of an 8-1 team win against Notre Dame (OH).
 
Playing as the Senators’ No. 1, Fermosel defeated Laura Herrera in straight sets with a tiebreaker in singles before working with Elise Simon to defeat Herrera and Ilona Zaisliuk in doubles competition, 8-3.
 
The Senators will head into the spring season with a 1-1 record.
