G-MAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week (Nov. 7)

INDIANAPOLIS - Burning through records once again, Cedarville's junior standout Carsyn Koch was tabbed the final Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Koch and the No. 8 Yellow Jackets continued to raise the bar that much higher following a record-breaking performance at the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional.

Not only did Koch shatter the 6K all-time conference record and Cedarville reset the new 6K team standard, but the team finished runner-up at the meet (2nd of 31) to advance to the NCAA Championships that will be held in Saint Leo, Fla., on Nov. 19.

It marks the first time a G-MAC women's cross country team has advanced to the final.

Koch toured the 6K course in a blistering 21-minute flat pace, topping Trevecca Nazarene then-freshman Caroline Hampton's 21:29.11 set in 2014, also at the same course in Evansville.

Cedarville's time of 1:47:00.00 was less than three seconds off the pace set by regional champ Grand Valley State. The Yellow Jackets averaged a time of 21:24 across the team.
