INDIANAPOLIS – Malone sophomore George McCartney continued his stellar postseason with the final Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week selection on Monday.
 
It was the second time McCartney was named athlete of the week for the Pioneers, who are in their first year as members of the league.
 
McCartney also was the G-MAC Runner of the Year following the conference meet and earned first-team all-conference honors.
 
This time, he led all G-MAC runners in a deep field at the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional 10K in Evansville, Ind.
 
McCartney paced the course in 31:38.10, the sixth best time in conference history. He finished 34th in the field of 219 total runners and Malone led all G-MAC schools with an 11th place team finish.
