G-MAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week (Oct. 3)

10.3.16

INDIANAPOLIS - For the third time this season, senior Olivia Esbenshade from 10th-ranked Cedarville was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Esbenshade kept raising the bar to another level, this time at the All-Ohio Championships over the weekend.

She finished with the conference's best 6K time this season with a 21:47.70. It also ranks sixth-best in all-time G-MAC history by a slim margin, trailing her own 21:47.50 set at last year's NCAA Midwest Regional

Esbenshade led the Yellow Jackets to 3rd place out of the 43-team field at the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championship.

Esbenshade matched her fastest 6K time and placed sixth out of 295 runners. She still owns the G-MAC's best times in the 6K and 5K distances this fall.

Cedarville's top five finishers were within 43 seconds of one another. The team also beat out seven Division I schools.
