INDIANAPOLIS - Ohio Valley freshman Alex Kitony was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week on Monday following a strong 8K effort.

Kitony clocked a time of 25:33, good for fourth best around the league this year, at the #JennaStrong Invitational hosted by Wilmington College on Friday.

Kitony was the first to cross the finish line for Ohio Valley and finished 16th overall. As a team, the Fighting Scots earned a 14th-place finish in a 38-team field.

It represented Ohio Valley's final tune-up before the G-MAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday hosted by Malone.
