INDIANAPOLIS - Cedarville junior Carsyn Koch was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Koch led the seventh-ranked Yellow Jackets at the Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational in just her second race of the season. The track and field national champion had an offseason to remember following her U.S. Olympic Team Trials race in the 800m.
Koch clocked a time of 22:24 in the 6K race, the second fastest recorded in that distance around the conference this season.
The Yellow Jackets earned a third-place finish in the 12-team meet.
Koch was the first to cross the finish line for the Yellow Jackets and is primed to help the program peak for the upcoming postseason at the G-MAC Championships, NCAA Midwest Regional and just possibly, nationals.
Nine of Cedarville's runners finished before the 25-minute mark.
