G-MAC Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week (Sept. 8)

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Cedarville sophomore Daniel Michalski was named the first Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the fall on Tuesday.
 
Michalski posted the G-MAC’s sixth-best time ever in a 5K distance to open the season on Saturday at the Dayton Flyer race with a heavy contingent of NCAA Division I competition.
 
Michalski clocked in at a time of 15:53.20 while topping a total of 39 combined individuals from schools like Ohio State, Dayton, Ohio and Miami of Ohio.
 
His season-opening time beat a 15:58.79 posted by Ryan Gustafson (Cedarville) back in 2012. Cedarville’s Benjamin Tuttle owns the G-MAC’s best 5K time at 15:26.69.
 
The product from Xenia finished seventh overall in the field of 77 runners. 
 
Cedarville is idle for the upcoming weekend and will next compete on Saturday, Sept. 26, while hosting the Cedarville Friendship Invitational at the Elvin R. King Course.
