GREENWOOD, Ind. – Davis & Elkins freshman Danielle Haynes was named the second Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the fall on Monday.
For the second straight week around the league, a first-year runner brought home weekly G-MAC honors on the women’s side following Alderson Broaddus’ rookie Taylor Treadway (Sept. 8).
Haynes was the pacesetter for Davis & Elkins in the Senators’ second event of the fall at the Bethany Invitational on Saturday.
While helping D&E to a fourth-place team finish out of a 17-team field, Haynes navigated the 6K course in Bethany, W.Va., in a time of 24:20.
Her time clocked in at seventh-best in the G-MAC this fall and she placed sixth individually out of 143 total runners. Haynes, from Berkley Spring, W.Va., had already placed second overall following her collegiate debut at the D&E Forest Festival Invitational.
Davis & Elkins will head out to Latrobe, Pa., this upcoming weekend to compete at the Saint Vincent Invitational on Saturday.
