GREENWOOD, Ind. – Davis & Elkins junior Paul Louzy was named the second Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the fall on Monday.
Louzy and the Senators were in action over the weekend at the Bethany Invitational on Saturday as D&E freshman Danielle Haynes secured G-MAC Athlete of the Week honors on the women’s side.
Davis & Elkins finished fifth in a 17-team field while Louzy posted the G-MAC’s best 8K time on the men’s side in the fall to date.
The junior from Grafton, W.Va., finished eighth out of 149 total runners in the men’s race.
He crossed the finish line in 27:49, edging Andrew Shaffer (Ohio Valley) and his 28:35.50 in the D&E Forest Festival Invitational for the G-MAC’s top 8K time this fall. Louzy also possesses the league’s third-best time after running a 28:47.02 last weekend.
