GREENWOOD, Ind. – An emergent Trevecca Nazarene University program earned top billing for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Cross Country Preseason Coaches Poll released Monday.
The Trojans edged out three-time G-MAC champion Cedarville University by one point in the cumulative voting.
TNU received a total of 41 points along with four first-place votes and return four first-team all-conference performers with Logan Rodgers, Ben Moroney and Taylor Flemming, all with junior status this fall for G-MAC Coach of the Year Austin Selby.
Cedarville gathered in the remaining three first-place votes and had 40 total points.
Davis & Elkins College earned 31 points, Alderson Broaddus University picked up 26 points and last year’s championship host, Kentucky Wesleyan, received 24 points.
Ohio Valley University and Salem International rounded out the sixth and seventh spots, respectively, in the preseason coaches poll.
The 2015 G-MAC Cross Country Championships are being conducted in Elkins, W.Va., and will be hosted by Davis & Elkins.
The G-MAC is working with member institutions for an extensive preseason preview later this month. Interviews with the head coach and a student-athlete along with a written team capsule will be posted on G-MACSports.com prior to the regular season getting underway.
