GREENWOOD, Ind. - The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has named Kristen Heydt of Cedarville University and Charles Brunel of Davis & Elkins the Women's and Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week as conference action was in full swing this past week for both the men and the women.

Charles Brunel has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conferences Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week as he helped guide his team to a big 5-4 win over Cedarville in conference action.
Brunel won his number two singles match by a score of 6-2 and 6-3, and then followed it up by winning the number one doubles match in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (7-3). Brunel paired with number three singles player Simon Meriau in the doubles win.
After D&E and Cedarville split the singles matches 3-3, with D&E winning the top three singles spots, D&E secured the win with a win in number three doubles and the tiebreaker win at number one doubles.
On the season, Brunel leads the team with a 7-4 overall record in singles action, all of those matches coming at the number two spot. Brunel is 4-7 overall at number one doubles, going 3-4 teamed with Thomas Judd. The win against Cedarville was Brunel’s first doubles win with Simon Meriau (1-3).

Women’s Tennis: Athlete of the Week

Kristen Heydt has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conferences Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week after a big week of conference action.
In three G-MAC victories by the Lady Jackets over Alderson Broaddus, Davis & Elkins, and Kentucky Wesleyan, Heydt went 3-0 at the number four singles position and 3-0 in number two doubles. Against the Senators, Heydt lost the first set 6-3, but rallied to win the next two sets 6-1 and take the match in a tight 6-3 win by Cedarville over the defending conference champions.
In doubles, Heydt teamed up with Maryssa Herbert - last week’s G-MAC women’s tennis athlete of the week, to win all three matches, including a tight 8-5 win over Davis & Elkins securing the Lady Jackets win as the score was 4-3 after the results of six singles and the number one doubles match.
Heydt moved to 7-6 on the season in singles, improving to 6-3 at the number four spot. She also moved back to .500 in doubles at 8-8, including a 6-4 record at number two doubles.
