GREENWOOD, Ind. – Michael Purcell of Trevecca Nazarene and Anthony Bariso from Salem International both received Great Midwest Athletic Conference weekly baseball honors as announced on Monday.
 
Purcell showcased his dominance with a nine-inning complete-game effort while Bariso was the sparkplug for an offensive SIU surge that resulted in a four-game conference sweep.
 
Purcell is now a two-time G-MAC Pitcher of the Week this spring and Bariso earned player honors for the first time.

Purcell dazzled with a three-hit shutout over nine innings against Ohio Valley and added a dominant relief outing to his ledger against Lee in non-conference action this week.
 
All told, the senior southpaw totaled 10.1 innings while striking out 11 and allowing no runs on just four hits. He only walked one.
 
Purcell tamed the Fighting Scots in a 10-0 TNU victory with seven strikeouts over the nine frames. He scattered the three hits and kept his pitch count under 100 with 93 total pitches.
 
Earlier in the week against Lee, Purcell recorded all of his outs via the strikeout. He fanned four hitters in 1.1 innings pitched.
 
Purcell has compiled a 5-1 record with a 2.23 ERA in 64.2 innings pitched this year. He is averaging more than a strikeout per inning (71) and his ERA is ranked third in the conference.

The junior first baseman Bariso finished the week a combined 15-for-29 (.517) in six games with five RBI and 10 runs scored. He is now leading the team with a .377 batting average.
 
In addition to his production at the plate, he earned a win on the mound over Davis & Elkins with a season-high seven strikeouts in a complete-game effort.
 
Overall, Bariso helped the team go 4-2, including a pivotal four-game sweep over Davis & Elkins.
