Women’s Tennis: Athlete of the Week

Courtney Heydt
Cedarville University - Senior
Mason, Ohio - Mason High School

Courtney Heydt has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conferences Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week, opening the 2015 spring season, as she competed in Orlando, Florida over spring break with Lady Jackets.

Despite a tough week for Cedarville on the court, winning just one of four matches, Heydt went 3-1 at number two singles and 3-1 at number one doubles, partnered with Lily Schuler. The six total wins came in four matches. Her doubles win against Saginaw Valley State was the team’s only victory. In an 8-1 win over Judson, Heydt won both her singles and double match. Against Saint Benedict, her singles win was one of two wins for Cedarville, and then she closed out the week winning singles and doubles against Otterbein, giving CU both of its two wins.

Heydt went 4-3 in singles in the fall and improves to 7-4 overall on the season. In doubles, she was only 2-5 in the fall, but improved to 5-6 with a solid week.
