GREENWOOD, Ind. – Cedarville’s Drew Johnson and Salem International’s Colton Lankford were selected as Great Midwest Athletic Conference baseball weekly award winners on Monday.
 
Johnson was the key catalyst in the offense for a signature week carved out by the Yellow Jackets while Langford piled up the strikeouts on the mound in a pair of starts for the Tigers.

Lankford went 1-1 this past week, allowing a total of three runs (all earned) on 12 hits with 18 strikeouts over 13 strong innings pitched.
 
Lankford earned his first win at Salem International with a complete-game shutout at Chowan on Sunday afternoon. He allowed three hits, while striking out 12 and issuing only one walk.
 
The 6-1 junior hurler retired the first 14 Chowan batters in order and had a no-hit bid broken with a two-out single in the sixth inning. His outing in the final game of the four-game series helped the Tigers win 3-0 and earn a weekend split with the Hawks.
 
Lankford also allowed three runs on nine hits with six strikeouts and three walks over six innings in a 3-0 loss at Virginia State earlier in the week.

Johnson powered his way to a strong .444 batting average as Cedarville carved out five wins this past week in Florida. He was 12-for-27 at the plate and had four extra-base hits, including three doubles and a triple.
 
Johnson drove in five runs while slugging .630 and made an impact as the Yellow Jackets made national waves by beating No. 1 University of Tampa, a program that had just toppled the Philadelphia Phillies in spring training exhibition action.
 
In an 8-4 Cedarville win in the Spartans’ home stadium, Johnson doubled, tripled, scored and drove in a run. He got Cedarville on the board in their first series of at-bats, stinging a one-out RBI double down the line.
 
Earlier in the week, during a 10-9 Cedarville win vs. Saginaw Valley State, the sophomore corner infielder scored the winning run after reaching base with a single to begin the top half of the eighth inning.
 
Johnson was 4-for-5 against Saginaw Valley State.
 
This season, Johnson is hitting .417 in nine games played. He is sporting a 15-for-36 line with seven runs, three doubles, two triples and six RBI.
