GREENWOOD, Ind. – Trevecca Nazarene’s Zach Tompkins and Alderson Broaddus’ Randy Dobnak both received Great Midwest Athletic Conference baseball weekly awards as announced by the league on Monday.
Tompkins was a terror at the plate for the Trojans in three games en route to G-MAC Player of the Week while Dobnak, tabbed G-MAC Pitcher of the Week, and the Battlers continued to roll through the conference slate.

In his fifth start of the spring, the righty turned in a complete-game gem, going the distance with a four-hit shutout in a 4-0 Battlers’ victory.
Dobnak shut down Ohio Valley with nine strikeouts over seven scoreless innings and walked just one. With AB’s most recent G-MAC win, the Battlers were able to sustain their perfect conference start at 6-0 in the league standings.
The sophomore mowed through the Fighting Scots with 101 pitches and escaped a bases-loaded jam in the second inning. He ended up retiring the last 10 consecutive batters he faced in order.
Dobnak improved to 3-2 on the hill for Alderson Broaddus and currently owns the best earned run average in the G-MAC at a 1.36 clip.
On the year, Dobnak has logged 33 innings while racking up 31 strikeouts and walking just four. His strikeout-to-walk ratio is backed up with four complete games and two shutouts. He has been touched for just five earned runs this spring.

Tompkins made his presence felt with a torrid offensive outburst while calling the signals for a red-hot pitching staff behind the dish as TNU improved to 16-11 overall and 7-1 in the G-MAC.
While appearing in three games against Salem International during a four-game Trojans’ sweep, Tompkins raked to the tune of a .643 average in 14 at-bats.
He was 9-for-14 at the plate, doubled four times and tripled. He also scored four runs and had a total of nine RBI while drawing a walk and successfully stealing a base.
In the first game of the series, Tompkins drove in three runs and doubled while batting sixth in the order. His RBI single in the fourth frame gave the Trojans a 3-0 lead at the time and a two-run single capped a six-run eighth inning.
To complete Friday’s doubleheader sweep, Tompkins cleared the bases with a two-out, three-run double down the line against the Tigers. He was 2-for-4 and had four RBI.
Earning rest for Saturday’s twinbill opener, Tompkins returned to the lineup and mashed out four more hits with three runs and two RBI.
This year, Tompkins is hitting .333 through 19 games and 69 at-bats. He has 23 hits, five doubles, a triple and a home run with 24 RBI. He joins teammates Tyler Tichenor and Hunter Newman to earn G-MAC weekly player honors this spring.
