NCAA DII Volleyball Championship Bracket
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Trevecca Nazarene will represent the Great Midwest Athletic Conference in the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional as the field of 64 qualifying teams was released Monday night.
The Trojans (20-11, 7-3 G-MAC) recently defeated Cedarville for the G-MAC Championship, a title that came with the league’s first automatic qualifier to the national tournament.
TNU earned the No. 8 seed in the Midwest Regional and will head to Big Rapids, Mich., and Ewigelben Sports Arena to face top seed and region host Ferris State on Thursday, Dec. 3.
A start time for Trevecca Nazarene vs. Ferris State has been set for 5 p.m. EST.
It will be a historical matchup between the G-MAC and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) champions.
Ferris State is 31-2 overall and beat Michigan Tech, Grand Valley State and Findlay, in the postseason. The Bulldogs are ranked third in the AVCA Coaches Poll and first in the final Midwest Region rankings.
TNU beat Kentucky Wesleyan, Alderson Broaddus and Cedarville, in its conference tournament title run.
The eight teams in the NCAA Championship bracket were selected from each of the following eight regions: Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West.
Also qualifying from the Midwest Region were two future G-MAC institutions, No. 4 Findlay and No. 5 Hillsdale. No. 2 Rockhurst will face Saginaw Valley State, the No. 7 seed, and No.3 Lewis will square off against No. 6 Grand Valley State.
The winner between Trevecca Nazarene and Ferris State will face the winner of Hillsdale and Findlay on Friday, Dec. 4, in the second round.
Eight eight-team regionals will be played at on-campus sites. Regional competition will be single-elimination, best three-of-five-set matches and will not include a third-place match. The winners of each of the eight regionals will advance to the finals, Dec. 10-12, at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center in Tampa, Florida. The University of Tampa and the Tampa Bay Sports Commission will serve as hosts. Competition at the finals site will be single-elimination; best three-of-five-set matches.
