ELKINS, W.Va. –
Trevecca Nazarene’s Caroline Hampton stole the individual show while Cedarville bested the field at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Championships on Saturday.

Still just a sophomore, Hampton retained her title as G-MAC Runner of the Year in West Virginia with a blistering time of 23:08.

Hampton was also the 2014 G-MAC Runner/Freshman of the Year in Owensboro, Ky.

Hampton outdistanced herself from the rest of the field by 41 seconds as she carefully blazed a trail through the 6K course on the campus of Davis & Elkins College.

But just like the men, the Cedarville women relied on senior leadership and team depth to claim their fourth consecutive women’s cross country league title.

Cedarville head coach Jeff Bolender was voted by his peers as the G-MAC Coach of the Year.

The Yellow Jackets had 36 points to 69 compiled by second-place Trevecca Nazarene. Alderson Broaddus finished in third with 80 points and Ohio Valley (93) and Kentucky Wesleyan (111) rounded out the top five teams.

Cedarville seniors Kathryn Sill and Kristen Laaman were bookends for the Yellow Jackets, crossing the line in third and fourth, respectively.

Juniors Rachel Groh and Bethany Norman also finished in the top 10 just 10 seconds apart while sophomore Carly Rose secured 12th overall.

Alderson Broaddus first-year runner Taylor Treadway sustained her impressive season debut with the Battlers to finish second and garner G-MAC Freshman of the Year accolades.

The first eight (due to a tie) finishers received first-team all-conference honors. Second-team all-conference performers included runners finishing ninth through 14th in the standings.

The postseason continues and the G-MAC schools now have their sights set on the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional in Evansville, Ind. The women's Midwest Region will receive six automatic team qualifiers to the NCAA Division II Championships. There are additional opportunities to individually qualify.
