GREENWOOD, Ind. – Ohio Valley senior Andrew Shaffer was named the seventh Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the fall on Monday. 
 
Shaffer was pegged for G-MAC weekly honors following his performance at the Jenna Strong Fall Classic in Wilmington, Ohio.
 
The Fighting Scots fared well in a large 36-team field, placing 20th overall. Shaffer led the way for Ohio Valley with a 17th-place finish on the 8K course as 349 runners competed.

Shaffer’s time of 26:06.05 ranked second among all DII competitors at the meet only behind Andrew Beier of Ohio Dominican.
 
The Fighting Scots are making preparations to head to the G-MAC Championship this weekend in Elkins, W.Va. Saturday’s men’s race will begin at 10:30 a.m. EST.
