GREENWOOD, Ind. – Cedarville sophomore Daniel Michalski was named the sixth Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the fall on Monday.
This is the second time in the fall Michalski has been named the league’s weekly pick in men’s cross country.
The sophomore shined in a deep Midwest Region field at the Lewis Conference Crossover in Romeoville, Ill., on Friday by finished 13th out of 148 total runners.
Not counting NCAA Division II No. 1 Grand Valley State runners, Michalski would have been second overall as he crossed the line in 25:11.13. His most recent 8K effort ranks third best around the G-MAC this fall.
Michalski now possesses three of the league’s best top-10 8K times in 2015 after strong outings at the All-Ohio Championships (25:18.99) and Friendship Invitational (25:53.70).
As a team, Cedarville finished seventh. Teams present in the USTFCCCA Midwest Region rankings included Grand Valley State, Indianapolis and Ferris State.
Next up for Michalski and the Yellow Jackets is the G-MAC Championship on Saturday, Oct. 24, in West Virginia hosted by Davis & Elkins.
