GREENWOOD, Ind. - Ohio Valley University junior runner Andrew Shaffer was selected as the G-MAC’s first Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week following his first-place effort at the Davis & Elkins-hosted Forest Festival Invitational 8K event in West Virginia.
 
Shaffer beat out a field of 40 other runners as the Fighting Scots grabbed third as a team to begin the fall campaign. He set the pace, leading the pack for a winning margin of nearly nine seconds with a time of 30:54.00.
 
Two more Ohio Valley runners joined him in the top 10 of the final individual standings, Kip Kipmone and Justin Thompson.
