Kyle Emig has been named the G-MAC’s Baseball Offensive Athlete of the Week for the first time this season after an impressive week at the plate for the Panthers, who went 5-1 last week in conference action. KWC improved to 8-4 in the G-MAC and moved into second place in the standings, a game ahead Alderson Broaddus, who was KWC’s opponent this past weekend for four games.

Emig hit .529 over the six games, collecting nine hits and eight runs batted in. He scored five times. He led the conference with a 1.118 slugging percentage as he belted three home runs. He also led the conference with a .667 on-base percentage, adding five walks to his nine hits.

In a pair of make-up games against Cedarville, Emig combined to go 3-5 in the doubleheader sweep, scoring a run in each game and driving in himself in the first game on a solo-home run.  Against Alderson Broaddus, the two teams split the opening doubleheader and on day two, KWC swept the games as Emig went a combined 4-7 with three runs scored and five driven in, including a double in the first game and two home runs in the second game.

This season Emig is second on the team in batting average (.425), having made only 11 starts in the team’s 25 games played. A majority of his season totals came this week: nine of 17 hits, eight of 14 RBI, five of eight runs scored, and all three home runs.

Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Aussie Light
Kentucky Wesleyan College (@KWCPanthers)
Senior - Pitcher
Cottontown, TN - White House High School

Aussie Light has been named G-MAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week after his performance against two of the better in-conference opponents, leading KWC to a 5-1 week in conference action. Light pitched a conference high 15 innings, collecting a pair of wins.

In his first outing of the week, Light threw eight innings in game two of a mid-week make-up doubleheader against Cedarville. He allowed just two earned runs, striking out 12 batters in the team’s 6-4 win. Light held the Yellow Jackets scoreless through four innings, before giving up a run on a two-out triple. He left the runner stranded at third and didn’t allow a run until the seventh. In the seventh he gave up two runs with two outs on two hits and two defensive errors, but limited the damage stranding two more runners on base. His day finished after working a perfect eighth inning.

In his next outing, the final game of the weekend series with Alderson Broaddus, Light worked seven scoreless innings striking out nine. After striking out the side in the first inning, he allowed seven hits, but didn’t walk a hitter and left all seven base runners stranded.
