INDIANAPOLIS - The 2014 Baseball Championships will crown the second G-MAC Champion, but the tournament will mark a few first for baseball in the G-MAC. The tournament winner will be the first conference champion since the G-MAC became an active NCAA Division II conference just prior to the 2013-14 academic year, and the tournament itself will be hosted by Prasco Park for the first time.
Prasco Park, which had its grand opening and hosted its first game on June 19, 2008, aims to be one of the premier amateur baseball destinations in America. The park is a beautiful, state-of-the art facility located on the corporate campus of Prasco Laboratories in Mason, Ohio.
Prasco Park is designed to provide a first-class baseball experience for those both on the field and in the stands. Additionally, Prasco Park was built to host community and outreach events. The facility has played host to the NCCAA Championships in 2013 and the G-MAC Championships starting in 2014.
Prasco Park is the permanent home of the Cincinnati Spikes amateur baseball team, which plays its schedule primarily throughout the summer months. Select colleges and universities in the region also use the facility on special occasions. Not only will Prasco Park provide a great tournament experience for the G-MAC student-athletes, but the tournament will utilize Legacy Field as well. Legacy Field is a unique, synthetic-turf baseball field in which the only natural surface is the pitcher’s mound.
The G-MAC Baseball Championships will begin on Wednesday, May 7, 2014. The double-elimination tournament will conclude on Saturday, May 10, 2014. Prior to the championships, Prasco will host an awards banquet for the teams where the G-MAC will present the All-Conference and Individual Awards.
