Cedarville Lady Jackets edge Davis & Elkins, 69-68

ELKINS, W.Va. (courtesy of @CUJackets) - Kayla Linkous converted a one-and-one with 3.1 seconds left to complete a furious last-minute comeback providing Cedarville a 69-68 Great Midwest Athletic Conference victory at Davis & Elkins.

The Lady Jackets have won four straight and seven-of-eight to improve to 10-8 overall and 6-2 G-MAC. The lone blemish in that span was a 76-75 home setback to D&E three weeks ago.

This time, CU made the big plays down the stretch. Linkous' tip-out rebound to Kayla Jenerette for a three-pointer with 39 seconds left shaved the difference to 68-67.

The Senators aided the comeback by missing the front end of two one-and-ones in the final minute - the last coming with 36 seconds to go. They committed a critical common foul at the 8-second mark before sending Linkous to the line where she calmly dropped in the game-winners.

Raegan Ryan scored 21 points and Jenerette added 20. The backcourt mates drained four treys apiece. Deborah Gordon had 12 points and Linkous finished with 10.

The first half was just shy of a disaster for Cedarville. The Jackets trailed by as many as 18 points before cutting the margin to 36-27 by halftime.

Davis & Elkins, 10-12 and 7-3 G-MAC, had its six-game winning streak snapped.
