GREENWOOD, Ind. - Cedarville University sophomore Olivia Esbenshade carried the torch for the Lady Jackets over the weekend while being named the G-MAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career.
The Lady Jackets finished second out of 43 teams only behind Ashland University at the Wilmington-hosted #JennaStrong Fall Classic in Ohio. Esbenshade ran the 5,000-meter distance in 19:02.33 to place 14th out of 413 individuals.
Esbenshade’s most recent 5K time clocks in as the 11th best in G-MAC history and she joins teammates Alexandra Archambault and Carsyn Koch as weekly conference award winners for Cedarville this fall.
Cedarville’s team score of 1:36.11.73 was also the best cumulative time in the conference this year as the Lady Jackets’ top seven place-winners crossed the finish line within 47 seconds of each other.
Esbenshade also has the G-MAC’s third-best 6K time this year at the All-Ohio Championships.
