GREENWOOD, Ind. - For the second straight week and third time this year, a first-year runner earned G-MAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors as rookie Rachel Keeley of Kentucky Wesleyan College was tabbed the most recent selection.
Keeley follows in the footsteps of fellow freshmen Carsyn Koch (Cedarville – Oct. 6) and Caroline Hampton (Trevecca – Sept. 8) as part of an impressive class of newcomers around the league.
Keeley emerged from the pack at the Kentucky Wesleyan-hosted Fast Cats Classic 5K to etch her name in school history.
She won the race with a time of 19:40.92 at Yellow Creek Park to become the first woman in program history to win an invitational championship.
Yellow Creek Park in Owensboro serves as home for this year’s G-MAC Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Championships. The Panthers finished third as a team behind Keeley’s remarkable effort at the finish line.
