NCCAA Baseball: Cedarville wins Midwest Region

INDIANAPOLIS - Cedarville swept a doubleheader over Spring Arbor to win the NCCAA Midwest Region title for the third consecutive year, while Trevecca Nazarene won three games, but fell in the NCCAA Mideast Regional finals and did not receive an open bid to advance to the NCCAA Baseball Championships next week (May 15-18) in Mason, Ohio.

(Courtesy of @CUYellowJackets) - Cedarville returns to the NCCAA Division I World Series at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio this week for its third straight appearance and seventh overall.

The Yellow Jackets, 28-16 overall as the Midwest Region champion, are seeded No. 8 in the ten-team field. They'll open against defending national champion and top seed California Baptist, 37-18, on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.

CU plays twice at nearby Legacy Field on Thursday. They'll square off with No. 5 Southeastern (Fla.), 35-27, at 10:00 a.m. and then face No. 9 Oklahoma Christian, 25-23, at 4:00.

The Yellow Jackets wrap up pool play on Friday at Prasco Park against a longtime rival. No. 4 Mount Vernon Nazarene, 32-17, provides the opposition at 11:00 a.m.

The other pool features No. 2 Campbellsville (Ky.), 35-19, who defeated Trevecca in the Mideast Regional; No. 3 Arizona Christian, 29-25; No. 6 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.), 32-19; No. 7 Emmanuel (Ga.), 32-23; and No. 10 Covenant (Tenn.), 28-15.

The top two teams from each pool advance to semifinal play on Friday. The championship game is slated for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
