URBANA, Ohio (courtesy of @CUYellowJackets) - David Lenhardt assembled a day most players only dream about as he powered Cedarville to a Great Midwest Athletic Conference sweep at Urbana.
Lenhardt went 8-for-8 at the plate with a grand slam, four doubles, four runs scored, and 11 RBI’s as the Yellow Jackets won 11-3 and 16-11.
Cedarville amassed 20 hits in game two including 10 for extra bases while improving to 17-9 overall and 5-3 G-MAC. No one was more potent than Lenhardt.
The sophomore rightfielder finished 5-for-5 with the grand slam, three doubles, two runs scored, and eight RBI’s. His effort resulted in a whopping 2.200 slugging percentage.
Chris Fox pounded a three-run homer while going 3-for-5 with three runs. Dan Larkin tallied three hits including a home run, two doubles, and two RBI’s.
Tyler Hurt chipped in three hits, three runs, and two RBI’s. Logan Kasabian had two hits with a double and scored three times while David Ledbetter supplied three hits and two runs.
CU pitching was touched up for 21 hits in the ball game, but struck out 14 Blue Knight batters. Ryan Ledbetter, 5-1, came on in relief to work three innings and get the win.
In the opener, Ryan Ledbetter’s three-run homer keyed a five-run third inning to give the Yellow Jackets a 7-1 margin. Starting pitcher David Ledbetter fanned seven en route to squaring his record at 4-4. Rob Nesteroff tossed three innings and was credited with his third save.
Lenhardt was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBI’s. Steve Cardwell doubled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice while Fox added two hits and two runs. Cedarville totaled 13 hits and all nine Yellow Jackets in the batting order had at least one hit.
