Weekly Women's Cross Country Award Winner

INDIANAPOLIS - The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has named Lauren Carmody of Trevecca Nazarene the Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week. Carmody, who has run in just two races in her first season in college, has established two school records in two weeks.

Freshman Lauren Carmody has been named G-MAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week to begin her career at Trevecca Nazarene. Through three races, she ranks among the top of the conference in performances and has quickly established herself as one of the Trojans top runners in their brief history with Cross Country.
 
In her most recent event, Carmody set the school-record for lowest 6K time with (23:20) as she guided her team to the lowest team time among the NCAA DII teams, and lower than some NCAA DI teams at the Rhodes College invitational.
 
When Lauren Carmody broke the school record for the best 6K time, she broke the record set by her sister Katherine. The elder Carmody recorded a school-best 26:00 time at the Commodore Classic last season.
 
In the three races this season, Carmody ran the first race unattached from the scoring members of the team, but in the next two races she has led the team b posting the fastest times on the team, including a fifth place finish at the Commodore Classic hosted by Vanderbilt University.
 
In just two races in her brief career at TNU, she now holds the school record at the 6K distance and the 5K distance.
