Weekly Cross Country Award Winners

INDIANAPOLIS - The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has released its Men's and Women's Cross Country Runners of the Week. Matt Brooker and Alexandra Archambault, both of Cedarville University, guided their teams to top finishes as they hosted the 22nd Friendship Invitational.

For the second straight week, Matt Brooker has been named the men’s cross country runner of the week, making it three straight weeks in which a Cedarville runner has claimed this honor. Brooker, who took first place at the 22nd Friendship Invitational hosted by the Yellow Jackets over the weekend, guided the team to a first place finish as well with a time of 24:38.96.

His time was over 32 seconds better than his teammate and second place finisher, Josiah Bragg. It is the second-straight week in which Brooker led the Yellow Jackets team, but is his first overall victory as an individual on the season.

Alexandra Archambault

For the second time this year, Alex Archambault has been named women’s cross country runner of the week. Archambault  and her Cedarville team hosted the 22nd Friendship Invitational over the weekend, and for the second time this season, Archambault finished first overall to guide the team to a first place finish.

Her 5K time of 18:11.41 topped over 125 runners in the field, including a four second spacing between her and the second place runner. In regards to her personal performances, as a freshman with only two races – both first place finishes, she was able to top herself improving upon her time of 19:19.3 in the season-opening race.
