PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – Chris Klampe, currently the Director of Tennis at The Country Club, has been named the new Head Tennis Coach at Ursuline College, Athletic Director Cindy McKnight announced. The Arrows had been coached on an interim basis by Donna Day who will remain the head volleyball coach.
“I am very excited to take over the program at Ursuline,” Klampe said. “The transition to Division II is great for the College and will benefit the program. There is a lot of talent in Northeast Ohio and I believe we will attract terrific student-athletes that can really help the team."
Klampe, certified as a P-1 instructor by the United States Professional Tennis Association, has worked at the private club since 2010. Prior to that, he was the Director of Junior Tennis at the Cleveland Racquet Club from 2006-10, a position that required him to run the entire junior program at the nationally recognized club.
He’s coached at Solon High School as the boys head coach since 2011 and tutored the girls team at Laurel School from 2005-09, including two years as an assistant.
Additionally, Klampe has worked as the Tennis Director at The Club at Hillbrook (2002-2005) while doubling as a Tennis Professional at Chagrin Valley Athletic Club (2002-2005). From 1998-2002, he was the Director of Racquet Sports at The Wembley Club.
A graduate of Miami University, Klampe earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Journalism in 1995 and was a three-year member of the then-Redskins varsity tennis team.
He is a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and earned Prince All-American honors while at Washington High School in both 1991 and 1992.
Klampe resides in Pepper Pike, Ohio with his wife Kelly and their two daughters.
