Men and Women XC both place second at OIC's

NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Evan Thayer finished 5th to pace Cedarville to a second-place showing in the Ohio Independent Championship. Hannah Lamos was the individual runner-up and the Lady Jackets finished second as a team in the Ohio Independent Championship hosted by Walsh University.

Thayer’s time for the 8,000 meters was 26:30. Jacob Dubie was 8th in 26:43 and Joseph Cathey was 10th in 26:48.

Malone easily won the five-team meet with 16 points. The Yellow Jackets totaled 46 and was followed by Walsh, 79; Notre Dame, 119; and Urbana, 150.

CU also locked down places 11 through 14. The quartet was comprised of Joe Niemiec (26:49), Jacob Walter (26:50), Josiah Bragg (26:56), and Ryan Gustafson (27:03), respectively.

The Ohio Independent Championship includes schools who are either already full NCAA Division II members (Urbana) or are currently in the membership process.

MEN'S RESULTS

Hannah Lamos was the individual runner-up and the Lady Jackets finished second as a team in the Ohio Independent Championship hosted by Walsh University.

Lamos posted a time of 19:37 for the 5,000 meters. Rachel Wong was 3rd in 19:38 while Meghan Terell was 5th in 19:49.

Malone won the five-team meet with 26 points and Cedarville totaled 34. The rest of the field included Walsh, 84; Ursuline, 113; and Urbana, 150.

Abby Wong finished 16th in 20:16. Rounding out CU's top seven were Carolyn Case (16th; 20:35), Jennifer Hollander (18th; 20:50), and Neola Putnam (19th; 21:09).
